Hawaii is blessed with diverse natural scenery, a warm tropical climate, and abundance of public beaches and active volcanoes. Hawaii is home to the Kilaueo Volcano, one of the world’s most active volcanoes and the world’s tallest sea mountain. It is also the birthplace of modern surfing, the hula and features a unique Hawaiian cuisine. The state’s indigenous culture and hundreds of years of immigration has resulted in a blended culture and the welcoming Aloha tradition.
Hawaii is the former seat of a royal kingdom and home to the only royal palace on US soil. King Kamehameha conquered the islands in 1810 and established a monarchy uniting the islands in one great Kingdom. Hawaii is one of the youngest geological formations in the world and the youngest state of the union.
There are six major islands to visit in Hawaii: Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaii Island. You’ll find each island has its own physical trait and distinct personality and offering diverse adventures, activities and sights. Mark Twain called Hawaii, “That peaceful land, that beautiful land… the climate, one long delicious summer day, and the good that die experience no change, for they but fall asleep in one heaven and wake up in another.”
Kauai is the oldest of the islands and features beautiful gorges, waterfalls, the Waimea Canyon, the Napali Coast and it is rich in history and culture.

Oahu is the third largest island. Honolulu is the largest city in Hawaii and has a very cosmopolitan feeling with many high-rise hotels on Waikiki Beach as well as a wide-range of restaurants and shops. Here you can also visit Pearl Harbor and the Punchbowl which is the military cemetery. In addition, visitors can see the Ioloni Palace, home to King Kalakaua and the Polynesian Cultural Center. For a more laid-back experience, travel to the North Shore to the beach town of Haleiwa where the waves can reach as high as three stories during the winter surfing season.
Molokai is characterized as a more kick-back feel with a slower more rural-like experience so that visitors can see how Hawaii used to be. Lanai has only one town, Lanai City and is best known for the two resorts that feature championship golfing and the Lanachale (Munro Trail) which is an 11 mile hike where you can see Maui, Molakai, Molokini, and Kahoolawe.
Maui is my favorite island with many resorts to choose from, wonderful restaurants and beautiful scenery and beaches. Visit the Haleakala Crater at sunrise or sunset. If viewed at sunrise, you can then bike down the mountain to the beach which is a beautiful ride. Molokini Crater is great for snorkeling and diving. You also take the Road to Hana, one of the world’s most scenic drives, to experience views of the coastline and tropical vistas along the way. Central Maui features beautiful scenery as well in the Iao Valley where you can see the Needle (pictured on the right). Experience some of the best seafood in the world at many of the wonderful restaurant’s on the island. My favorite is Mama’s Fish House where the fishing boats literally bring fresh fish right to the door daily and then it is prepared with perfection and served to your table.
Hawaii (the Big Island) features Kilaueo Volcano, which is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. You can visit Hawaii’s Volcano Park and see the island growing before your eyes. You can visit the lava flow which is especially nice at night. The Kona-Kohala Coast features beautiful resorts and golf courses. Kealakekua Bay is known for diving and snorkeling. Hawaii is also the birthplace of King Kamehameha. As a certified Hawaiian Specialist, I can help you plan the perfect Hawaiian vacation.
